I. Meeting was called to order at 7:03pm II. AGENDA – Moved, seconded, passed unanimous III. ASST. TREASURER’S REPORT: FEC and FPPC reports filed. No new activity. E-mail Larry if you have any questions. IV. CHAIR’S REPORT: Rep. Sherman deserves credit for holding regular town hall meetings. More Dems than Republicans showed up at the last meeting. His new baby daughter was born a few weeks ago. He has secured contributions to DP/SFV from his contributors who have maxed out. V. DAVE JONES – candidate for State Insurance Commissioner, spoke regarding his race and accomplishments. VI. CANDIDATE FORUM – DP/SFV will hold its Statewide Candidates’ Forum March 14th at the CSUN Grand Salon – the event is free but parking is $5. Attendees should RSVP at DPSFV.com. VII. 43rd AD: Candidates Nayiri Nahabedian and Mike Gatto speak regarding their Assembly race in the 43rd District. VIII. MAY 2nd PICNIC: Tauby Ross spoke regarding needs for the May 2nd Picnic: a) Picnic starts at 11am, Softball at 2pm
IX. REFRESHMENTS FOR CANDIDATES’ FORUM: Sharon Ford invited members to help with refreshments at the March 14 Candidates’ Forum. X. CANDIDATES IN ATTENDANCE: Agi welcomed candidates Hrag Shipnoor, running for State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Diana Shaw, Chris Garcia, Alan Schneider, and Randy Hammock running for Judicial Seat #38 XI. JFK AWARDS: Chad Jones asked that DP/SFV allocate ~ $650 for a full-page ad in the upcoming LACDP JFK Awards Journal in April. Moved, Seconded, passed by unanimous voice vote. XII. POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE: Damian Carroll noted that a proposed resolution regarding the Santa Susana Field Lab was tabled. XIII. CREDENTIALS: Roz Teller noted that some clubs have not yet reaffiliated with DP/SFV – until they do their club reps cannot vote. 54 Members were credentialed and voting. Several new E-board members have been added: In AD 39, Yolanda Anguiano and Tino Salazar were added by caucus, At-Large, Devin Osiri was appointed by the Chair and approved by unanimous voice vote. XIV. ENDORSEMENTS: a. A Consent Calendar was presented as follows: Santa Clarita City Council: Harrison Katz, Henry Schultz; Prop 15 – YES. No items were pulled, the Consent Calendar was moved, seconded, approved by unanimous voice vote. b. Dan McCrory moved that DPSFV donate $1000 to the Prop 15 campaign. Seconded, passed by majority voice vote. c. 43rd AD: Endorsement Committee recommended Mike Gatto (11 yes, 0 no, 1 abstention.) The recommendation failed to garner a 60% majority vote (19 yes, 21 no, 6 abstentions). Ballots were distributed with all candidates names, the results were (Keuroghelian – 1, Nahabedian – 19, Gatto – 24, No Endorsement – 7) No candidate garnered 60%.
